| FAQ: How to? | How do I create a post?
1. After loggin in, click on "Community" near the top left corner of the page.
2. Click on the appropriate forum for your post's subject matter (New Members, Partner Support, Prayer and Praise, Off Topic, etc.)
3. Click on "New Topic" near the right side of the page.
4. Type your post's title in the subject field.
5. Type your post in the message field.
6. Scroll down. You may opt to preview your message before posting, or you may go ahead and opt to post without previewing.
What is the difference between "Quick Reply" and "Add Reply"?
If you scroll down to the bottom of a thread, you'll see a field titled "Quick Reply." Here you can easily type a reply and post.
By clicking "Add Reply," which appears at the top right of the quick reply field, it takes you to a new page for posting your reply.
The only difference between the two is that the Add Reply option allows you to give a unique title to your reply and also to preview your post. Neither of these are Quick Reply options.
How do I use bold, italics and underline features?
1. Right beneath the message field, click the feature you want to use (b = bold, i = italics, u = underline).
2. Type the text you want bolded, italicized, or underlined in between the brackers. For example: [bold]I love the Lord![/bold]
3. Or you can type your post first and then go back and highlight text you want to bold, italicize, etc. and then click the feature button for the specific highlighted text. I could go ahead and type "I love the Lord," then highlight it, and then click the "b" to bold it.
How do I add a web link to my post?
1. Type the url you want to link to (ex. wwww.partnersforputity.com).
2. Highlight it, then click the "url" button.
This makes the link "live" so that others can just click on it to go directly to the site.
How do I use the quote feature?
This is the same basic principle as using the bold, italics, etc. However, if you want to, you may click on "Quote" near the upper right corner of the post you want to quote from, and it will take you to a new Add Reply page with the contents of the entire post already in the message field. This is good to do if you want to go through and address a lot of different things someone mentioned in a post.
How do I use smileys?
As you type your post, simply click on the smileys you want to insert as you go along.
How do I use the shout box?
Shoutbox posts will only work if you post them while on the home page of the site (the same page as right after you log in) or while on the page listing all the different Community Forums (New Members, Off Topic, etc.).
Shoutbox posts may only be a limited size. Short and sweet. lol Also, smileys will work in the Shoutbox, but you must type the code for the particular smiley. For example:
A colon : a capital D makes a grinning smiley. A colon : plus the word 2pray plus another colon : makes the praying smiley. As you use the smileys in your regular posts, you'll become familiar with all the different smiley codes because you'll see them often.
How do I edit or delete a post?
If you want to edit/delete one of your posts (maybe you accidentally posted the same thing twice, for example, or hate typos...), you are able to edit/delete it yourself.
1. Go to the post you wish to delete.
2. Click on "Edit" near the upper right corner of the post (next to the "Quote" button).
3. TO DELETE: Scroll down and, underneath the smileys, you will see a box you can click that says "Delete this Post."
4. Click "Save Changes."
How do I explore the forum activity?
On the home page, scroll down to the bottom of the list of latests posts, and you'll see several different things: Unanswered Post, View All Threads, Forum Search, My Recent Threads, My Recent Posts, and Latest Post.
1. "Unanswered Posts" shows you all posts that have never received replies.
2. "View All Threads" shows you all threads beginning with locked and "sticky" threads and then posts in order from newest to oldest.
3. "Forum Search" allows you to search all posts for specific things. You could search for fruit of the spirit, for instance, and you would then have a list of posts (latest first) containing that phrase.
4. "My Recent Threads" shows you the list of threads that you created yourself in order from newest to oldest.
5. "My Recent Posts" shows you the list of posts that you've written in order from newest to oldest.
6. "Latest Post" shows you how many new posts there have been since your last visit.
How do I upload an avatar?
Go to "Edit Profile" beneath "Member Options" on the left side of the page.
Any image you want to use as an avatar can be no larger than 100x100 pixels or 30Kb. The file has to be either a JPEG (.jpg) or a GIF (.gif). It also helps if the file name is simple without a lot of crazy spaces, characters, etc.
If you need help uploading an avatar, feel free to let a moderator know.
How do I use Private Messages?
Anytime you have a message waiting for you, you will receive a pop-up notice immediately after logging in. If you have your pop-up blocker turned on, you will still see a blinking notification right below your user name (left side of the page) immediately after logging in. Even if you don't have any new messages, you will still see the following: [0 new messages]. You can click on this to go directly to your inbox, or you can click on "Check Your Private Messages" on the right side of the screen (above the Shoutbox).
To send someone a PM, click on their user name, then click [PM] below their avatar. Or you can click on the user's PM button at the bottom of a post they have written. You can also go directly to your inbox, click "Write New Message," and select the user you wish to PM from the drop down list.
***Ladies, please note that all communication between us and the male panel who answer is to be done publically in open forum form in the Ask an Overcomer section of the site only. NO PM'S***
